Previous creation: An Earldom of Bangor was one of the subsidiary dignities conferred on the Duke of Schomberg when he was made Duke of Leinster some nine months after the Battle of the Boyne, at which he had played a leading part on WILLIAM III's side. It and all his other titles expired with him in 1719.
